Threat To Stop Welfare Work in Afghanistan |
Ahmed Shameel News | 12 April 2023
New York: The United Nations has threatened to stop charity work in Afghanistan against restrictions on women. According to a foreign news agency, the United Nations said that the international organization is being forced to stop welfare work in Afghanistan by imposing various restrictions on women. According to the United Nations, banning women is illegal under international law, including the United Nations Charter, so the United Nations cannot comply with it. The growing restrictions are reminiscent of the first Taliban takeover between 1996 and 2001. The international organization said that any negative consequences of this crisis for the Afghan people will be the responsibility of the de facto authorities. It should be noted that since the Taliban came to power in 2021, a number of restrictions have been imposed on Afghan women, including the ban on women's higher education and government jobs. The Afghan Taliban has also banned women from working with local and foreign NGOs.
