Forecast of More Than Normal Rains, officials Worried |

ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) officials have started planning for the forecast of unusual rains in summer. A meeting was called by NDMA on the prediction of abnormal rains in summer. In which emergency situations were considered. Representatives of Ministry of Climate Change, Ministry of National Health Services, Armed Forces, SPARCO, WAPDA, Meteorological Department, Provincial Disaster Management Authorities and other emergency agencies participated in the conference. The conference discussed the risks of heatstroke, locust attacks, forest fires, droughts, melting glaciers and floods and other possible natural disasters during the next 6 months and planning for their prevention. A representative of the Meteorological Department told the meeting that the country is likely to receive normal or more rainfall during the next 3 months, while the temperature will also remain above normal. The Ministry of National Health Services presented the forum with preventive measures to prevent heat stroke. Chairman NDMA Lt. Gen. Inam Haider Malik said that apart from natural disasters, preparations should also be made for accidents and tragedies caused by human error and the provincial responsible organizations should closely monitor the local responders through field visits. .
